Hot news!General review, scientific-professional activities, rotation of IGYS conferences in the Baltic States, and reviews on the 4th IGYS International Conference for Master and Doctoral Students "Society and Consumption" Economic-Managerial and Social-Cultural Factors", which took place on 16 -17th April, 2004 at Kaunas Faculty of Humanities, Vilnius University, Lithuania

The informal students' group IGYS was established on 17th September, 2002, at Kaunas Faculty of Humanities, Vilnius University, by the initiative of assoc. prof. dr. Dainora Grundey, Deputy-Dean for Scientific Research. The establishment and formation of the group activity was based on the prototype of The Group for International Relations, Faculty of Economics, West Hungary University, Hungary.

Members to the International Group of Young Scientists (IGYS) are carefully selected by these criteria: (1) their academic grades (average 9-10, i.e. A grades); (2) they represent all three levels of studies (Bachelor, Master, and PhD); (3) their field of study is Social Sciences; and (4) broader representation of Lithuanian regions should be achieved (at this moment we have representatives from Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda, Palanga, Alytus, Druskininkai, Kybartai, Jurbarkas, Anykščiai, Alytus, Šakiai, Raseiniai).

    Main strategic activities of IGYS:
  • National and international market research.
  • Organising national and international conferences and seminars for senior and junior researchers.
  • Searching for social partners and sponsors for the scientific events.
  • Preparation of papers and presentations for the scientific events.
  • Preparation of reports, detailing IGYS activities during the current year and placing them on IGYS website.
  • Participation in national and international conferences and seminars, organised by other Lithuanian and foreign institutions, on behalf of Kaunas Faculty of Humanities, Vilnius University, Lithuania.
  • Establishing co-operative activities with prototype students' organizations in Lithuania and abroad.
  • Formalising IGYS activities in accordance with the Lithuanian legislation.
  • Organising special courses for IGYS members on market research methodology, academic writing, Business English, preparing applications-projects for national and international support funds, debates on scientific actualities.
